Kiwi is an attractive deciduous climbing plant, which works well as an ornamental plant. Egg-shaped, home-grown kiwis are delicious and rich in vitamin C. Plants are vigorous growers and thrive in a sheltered sunny position. Grow male and female cultivars to ensure good pollination, or opt for a self-fertile variety, if you're short on space.
Actinidia deliciosa 'Jenny' is the only self-fertile, hardy kiwi variety available. Heart-shaped, green leaves with red tips are followed by clusters of small white flowers in summer. Kiwis are ready to harvest in August and September. Find out more in our Actinidia grow guide.
