Korean angelica, Angelica gigas, is a fantastic architectural plant that adds height and drama to a border. It bears exotic-looking, shiny green, divided leaves, the upper ones of which are modified to form inflated purplish sheaths. Large, dark crimson-purple florets form distinctive, tight heads from late-summer to autumn. The blooms are extremely attractive to pollinators, and are excellent for cutting.

Grow Angelica gigas at the back of a partially shaded, herbaceous or mixed border, in moist, fertile soil. As a biennial, Angelica gigas will die after setting seed. Sow seed annually in spring for a continuous display.
