How understanding your intake of calories and nutrients can help boost wellness
The Nutracheck app can give you a helping hand when it comes to reaching your weight and health goals – and it couldn’t be easier to use.
Every gardener knows that for a plant to thrive, it needs the right nutrition. Good soil, carefully selected fertiliser, and just the right amount of light and water are essential. As a keen gardener, you’ll understand this better than anyone, and may even create your own feed to grow the strongest, healthiest plants.
But do you give the same consideration to the food that you put into your own body? Chances are, you’re not aware of the calories and nutrients in the food you eat each day, or the full impact it can have on your health.
Nutracheck is a downloadable app that allows you to track your calorie and nutrition intake each day, which can be useful if you’re trying to control your weight or monitor the nutritional value of the food you’re eating.
Whether you want to ensure you're not having too much saturated fat in your diet or you'd like to increase the amount of fibre, you can trust the app to keep you informed about the things that matter to you. Be it calories, sugar or salt, Nutracheck tracks it - and more - with its UK food database maintained by an expert team. What’s more, it takes less than 10 minutes a day to log your food and drink consumption.
So, whether you’re aiming to lose weight, improve your diet or eat for fitness, why not give Nutracheck a try?

Meet Steve
Nutracheck weight loss: 10st
As a younger man, Steve loved to explore the countryside with his wife. But as the years passed, and the weight piled on, he found himself unable to walk even a few steps without succumbing to painful arthritis.
“I was 61 and could hardly walk, even with a stick,” recalls Steve, who at his heaviest weighed 23st 5lbs. “I was also taking three types of medication to control blood pressure, and statins to control cholesterol levels.”
Challenged by his doctor to lose just 10 per cent of his body weight, Steve downloaded Nutracheck on the advice of his wife – and ended up losing 10st.
“I liked the emphasis on sustainable changes, and I like measuring and recording, so Nutracheck was right up my street,” Steve explains. “I measured absolutely everything I ate and weighed myself every morning.”
Almost a decade since he started using Nutracheck, Steve is a changed man.
“My BMI is now about 27 (I started at over 43) and I have stopped taking statins and two of the three blood pressure tablets. The threat of diabetes has gone. My wife and I can go walking in the country again and are planning a long-distance footpath holiday.”
