Like jewels on a necklace, this series of gardens is laid out on a circular route. Originally created in the 1920s in the Arts and Crafts style, they include a formal Italian garden, Japanese garden, wooded valley with winding paths and waterfalls, and a large rock and water garden. They are home to a diverse collection of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants – more than 3,000 species – for year-round interest.
