This mountainside estate and home of Victorian writer and philosopher John Ruskin combines gardens and woodland. Restoration over the past 30 years has added modern interpretations of Ruskin’s original ideas. Highlights include bluebells, rhododendrons and azaleas, as well as ferns, herbaceous planting and wildflowers. Woodland walks lead out onto the moorland above, offering wonderful mountain and lake views.
