Aeoniums are fleshy, architectural plants native to Madeira, the Canary Islands and North Africa. They make excellent summer bedding plants, and look particularly good in terracotta pots.

Aeonium arboreum is a pretty, jade green succulent with an upright habit and lightly curved, smooth leaves with small leaf scars. Yellow, star-shaped flowers appear on mature plants in summer, borne in cone-shaped clusters at the end of the stems. The leaf rosettes die back after flowers are finished.

For best results grow Aeonium arboreum in well-drained soil or containers in a sunny, sheltered position. Water plants sparingly. Provide protection from frost or bring plants indoors in autumn. Find out more in our grow guide for Aeoniums.
