It couldn't be easier to freeze fresh herbs. All you'll need are a few ice cube trays, chopped herbs and freshly filtered tap water. The frozen herb cubes can then be stored in the freezer until you're ready to use them.
You Will Need
- Home-grown herbs
- Ice cube tray
Total time: 30 minutes
Step 1
Select the healthiest and freshest shoots of your chosen herb and cut the leaves away from the stems. Wash the leaves, then chop them up into small pieces using a sharp knife or a pair of kitchen scissors.
Step 2
Pour fresh water evenly into an ice cube tray, filling each square to approximately a quarter full.
Step 3
Fill each of the cubes with the herbs, ensuring that as much leaf as possible is covered by water.
Step 4
When all the herbs have been added, top up the tray with water and place it in the freezer, keeping it level.
Step 5
Remove the frozen cubes from the tray and store them in clearly labelled bags in the freezer until needed.
